Julie Schwartz, the Community Engagement Manager at Susan G. Komen Coastal Georgia, joins us in today’s episode to talk about the kinds of programs that Komen makes possible in our own back yard. We talk about the history of the organization and their mission; we discuss the educational programs available, ways that Komen helps women get the screenings and treatments that they need, as well as some of the cutting edge research that they support. We learn what it means to be “more than pink”, ways that people can get involved, and what their biggest fundraisers of the year are all about: including the Race for the Cure and the Komen Big Wig campaign (which is going on now)!
